Liz Nolan is an employee of KLP (Leader) and is the driving force behind their new initiative “Community Festival Training and Development” which aims to support the development and sustainability of community festivals in county Kilkenny.
The KLP initiative provides a coordinating and mentoring resource to facilitate on such issues as programming, planning and management of community festivals, the provision of training workshops on topics such as Health & Safety, Finance and Budgeting, scheduling of events etc, and the further development of the Kilkenny Community Festival Network to facilitate sharing of learning, expertise, resources, cross promotion of festivals and group marketing
Essentially, KLP is concerned with promoting the cultural identity of communities and developing the concept of rural tourism across county Kilkenny by proactively supporting the work of community festivals.
Castlecomer Literary and Arts Festival was one of the festivals identified by Leader as keen to avail of support in order to build on the enormous success of the last two years.
An inaugural meeting to elaborate on this initiative, meet the members of the festival team who are actively involved in the festival, and to ascertain the most effective way of working together will be held tonight Wednesday at 7.30 pm in the Community Hall. Anyone wishing to help out with the organising of the Third Annual Castlecomer Festival will be most welcome.
