This imposing catholic church was built in a picturesque Gothic Revival style built for Bishop William Kinsella (1793-1845) by George and Edward Hetherington to designs prepared by William Deane Butler (c.1794-1857).
The present church replaced a simple thatched chapel that stood here in the 1750s until its replacement some forty years later by the Church of the Holy Cross. This served the people until the present church was completed in 1852. The interior of the church features an impresive matching altar, ambo and chair, painted ceiling, stained glass windows, carved Stations of the Cross and a very ornate sanctuary lamp.
Today the church welcomes anyone who would like to attend a service or simply visit to admire its stunning architecture. Mass times, web streamed services and more information can be found on the church website www.castlecomerparish.ie
